Snoring Excessively Can be Serious

Probably most of us have all snored at least one time. Babies snore as well and it is most frequent in adult males. Babies might snore since they nasal passages are not large enough. Pregnant women snore especially as time goes by during their pregnancy. People that are inebriated with alcohol tend to snore. Men have narrower air passages than women, causing them to want more snoring help.

When someone snores all the time and the sound is up to 80-90 decibels, then this can be considered excessive snoring. Obese people have too much fat around their necks and this narrows the air passage. As one gets older, the tongue and throat muscles can become more flabby. The tongue might fall back during sleep because of this extra flab.

Hypertension, cardiovascular disease, sleep apnea and strokes have been associated with excessive snoring. Sleep apnea is when someone’s breathing ceases for up to 30 seconds at different times during the night. Of course sleep apnea can be very serious. They will be sleep depraved and will not function during the day properly. This will lead to poor overall health besides being tired throughout the day.

How someone’s nose is shaped also plays a factor in the chances a person will snore. Enlarged tonsils and a deviated septum could cause someone to snore.

Many people who snore do not care to do anything to find a snoring solution. If it is not excessive they might be thinking it does not matter. But your snoring might be causing others to lose valuable sleep. This can be detrimental to their health. Snoring is said by some in the medical community to be a warning to health concerns listed above. Consult your Doctor to see if your snoring is excessive and if it might be a sign of some serious health issues.

You want to stop snoring – Start Exercising

If you have a lot of extra fat, and you snore, you need to exercise. Heavy people are more likely to snore than people who are not heavy.  Excess fat tissues around your neck can cause your airways to collapse due to the pressure put on them.  Snoring might be a joke to your family and friends as well as affect someone besides you, who is trying to sleep.  But snoring is also a serious issue.

Previously this issue of snoring affected men mostly. Now women are snoring is well.  You wan to nip this in the bud. You don’t want to start having sleep apnea.  That can be a more serious issue. 

How you sleep also affects snoring.  If you slept on your back it can cause the tissues on the throat to relax, making you produce snoring sounds Try changing your position while sleeping. Find a position where your breathing is better and easier. But people with severe snoring problems snore in any position. 

There is a trick you can try with a tennis ball. You can put a tennis ball in a sock and put it in the back of your pajamas near the waist.  This will force you not to lie on your back.  You can also elevate the bed. Put the head of your bed 4 inches. higher.  You might be able to breathe easier

Eliminate smoking and you will have a better chance of a snoring solution.  Eliminate alcohol, antihistamines sleeping pills.  Dairy products and soy milk products can stop mucus from being drained.  This can keep the mucus in your throat and can cause snoring.

Try the tips mentioned. Whether they help you stop snoring or not, having a better diet and exercising will generally keep you healthy and fit. If your snoring continues, you might want to see a medical doctor before this gets to be a more serious issue.

Should You be Concerned About Sleep Apnea?

Have you heard of the condition called sleep apnea?  Has your doctor told you that you have this condition?  If so you need to address it immediately as it is very dangerous and in extreme cases can even be deadly.

The term “apnea” refers to a cessation of breathing.  Swimmers practice static apnea, meaning holding their breath for longer periods of time.  So sleep apnea then refers to the body stopping its own breathing during sleep.  Normally, this would last for only a few seconds, the body is able to protect itself from this type of problem with all of its safeguards.  If a person with sleep apnea stops breathing during the night the body will typically trigger reactions to get it breathing again.  But usually this involves actually waking up if even for a few seconds so breathing can be started.Sometimes a person suffering from sleep apnea may not even be aware that they are waking up at times so they may not understand why they are constantly feeling tired during the day.  In reality those who have extreme cases of sleep apnea may wake up several times during the night which means they never get the quality, deep sleep that they need and that’s important for their overall health.  So they go through their day feeling fatigued and rundown and not realizing why. You may dismiss sleep apnea as a mere annoyance but in reality it’s a very serious condition and one that should be addressed as soon as possible.  A doctor can perform a physical exam and give recommendations for treating your own case of sleep apnea and in some cases a CPAP machine might be recommended to keep oxygen coming into the body on a regular basis.  And of course if you’re suffering from this condition because of obesity, it’s time to face this problem and do what you must to lose weight.

Signs of Sleep Apnea Not to be Ignored

You may be one of the many people who have heard of sleep apnea and are wondering what exactly the signs are. Unfortunately the occurance of sleep apnea is rising it not something to be trivialized. If you ignore sleep apnea the result can be the build-up of toxins in the blood which can potentially cause damage to muscles and organs. Even the brain can be affected. So, if you think there is a chance that you have sleep apnea what should you do about it?

Firstly, when asking what the signs of signs of sleep apnea are remember that just because you have restless nights when you keep waking up it does not mean that you have sleep apnea. Reasons that you’re waking up cou;d be that your caffeine intake has been too great or even that you’re not getting enough exercise. So what are the signs of sleep apnea that set it apart from general sleeplessness?

Symptoms of sleep apnea can include bad headaches, irritability and mood swings, stiff neck, sore throat, daytime drowsiness and muscular aches and pains. During the night, choking, gasping, wheezing, and loud snoring are also symptoms. These symptoms are especially appropriate with sleep apnea because they signal that the body is having trouble breathing during sleep. You have to be aware of both night and day symptoms. Bad headaches can be caused by lots of reasons, as can irritability. However, gasping, choking, wheezing, and loud snoring during the night are almost always signs of sleep apnea.

At the end of the day, if you think there is the slightest chance that you are showing signs of sleep apnes then make an appointment to talk to your doctor. Sleep apnea, in the worst cases can be deadly, so take any fears seriously and get yourself checked out.
